Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac: I previously reviewed the Home & Student Edition on my old G4 Mac Mini. I recently bought a new Intel based Mac Mini (2.0 GHz) with 4 GB of RAM, from Amazon. I also got the 'full' copy of MS Office Mac. I had thought it would be a more fully featured version. A new page has been posted to the Microsoft Mac Business Unit's site demonstrating many of the new features in Office 2008 for the Mac, which is due to be delivered sometime in the first half of 2008.The site previews Elements Gallery, a user interface that gives users quick access to tools and formatting options within applications. Office Home and Student 2007, for example, which launched in late January 2007, a full year before Office for Mac 2008 appeared, will be supported until October 2017, more than four years from now. Office 2008 is a Universal Binary, was built by Mac users for Mac users, and includes many features which take advantage of underlying technologies of the Macintosh platform. Office 2008 uses Open XML file formats for compatibility with Windows-based 2007 Microsoft Office.
Microsoft only made one initial release to make Office 2011 compatible with High Sierra. That was shortly after HS came out. Later point releases made it less compatible. So it's no surprise at all that a 10 year old piece of software doesn't work in Mojave.

On top of that, Office 2008 is 32 bit software. Mojave only partly supports 32 bit apps. They may work, they may not. The OS that comes after Mojave will be 64 bit only. No 32 bit apps will work at all.

Time to upgrade. You can get the Home Edition of Office 2019 for $160. If you need Outlook, then it'll be $260 for the Home/Business version.
